Germans leading in Sri Chinmoy ultras

Anke Drescher (35) from Tübingen on first place among the womens.

At the 14th 12- and 24-Hour-Self-Transcendence-Race in the sport facilities of St. Jakob in Basel on the 4./5. Mai Anke Drescher (35) from Tübingen stood first among the women. She managed 186,440 km in 24 hours and this despite of 12 hours of steady rain and very cold temperatures on the legendary world record track. Sigrid Lomsky from Berlin set up the women's world record in 1993 with 243,657 km, which is still holding today. 5 years later Yiannis Kouros from Greece achieved on the same track the world record of the men's with 290,221 km in 24 hours – also not defeated as today. On the highest step in the men's category stands local matador Martin Wagner (33) from Basel with 226,704 km in 24 hours.

Thomas Blumtritt (37) from Bayerisch Gmain won the 12-Hour-Race with 135,592 km the men's category. On the women's side Tina Bercic (29) from Slovenia won with 104,560 km in 12 hours.

Also at the 6 and 10-Day-Self-Transcendence-Race in Flushing Meadow Corona Park in New York, ending  on 4. Mai, the Germans are at the very front. At the 10-Day-Race the second place goes to Walter Zimmerman (48) from Marktheidenfeld with 1047,654 km only beaten by Rimas Jakelaitis (47) from Lituania with 1128,119 km. Michael Behm (49) from Bremen managed 651,766 km coming in second in the 6-Day-Race. Right behind on third place Michael Purwins (41) from Buchholz with 539,115 km. First place went to Ashprihanal Alto (31) from Helsinki, Finnland with 679,124 km. Last year Ashprihanal won for the second time in a row the 3100-Mile-Self-Transcendence-Race in New York – the longest race in the world, that only view can handle.
