Part 3: Blisters
As I mentioned already in the introduction, blisters on the feet are a great deal for me.
My feet start easily perspiring and than the danger for blisters to show up is quite big.
Coolmax socks and good aerated shoes are an absolute must for me, but being on the track for the whole day during multi day races, my feet get very warm and even tumify . I for my part help myself by simply cutting away certain parts of the shoe. The top front part has to go and maybe some more holes on the sides. This may not look that aesthetic, but it is absolutely handy and efficient.
If there are still blisters showing up, than there are more possibilities to react on that. It is advisable to take steps as soon as possible, or the blister may increase of size.
Personally I take following steps:
1) use Tea-tree oil for disinfection
2) apply a cut to let out the liquid
3) Tea-tree oil on the open blister and pressing out the liquid
4) tape the blister with paper plaster, or if it is bigger I use "second skin"
on it and fix it with plaster. "Second skin" is kind of a second skin
made of a material like gel
The Tea-tree oil is particularly to emphasize. It acts strongly disinfectant and dries the blister. Especially if the blister is inflamed and filled with pus, the Tea-tree oil is reacting unbelievable well with the pus and heals it within shortest time.
A person I know is putting Ribgrass on the blisters and goes on running. The Ribgrass has something that is making the blisters disappear.
There are also special plaster for blisters, who carry a chemical substance, and behaves like a skin.
